San Marcos/Hays County E.M.S. was formed and incorporated by the City of San Marcos and Hays County 1983 as a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation. San Marcos / Hays County EMS is owned and controlled jointly by both the City of San Marcos and Hays County. Since incorporation we have been providing both emergency and non-emergency E.M.S. to the Cities of San Marcos, Kyle, Niederwald, and Mountain City. We also cover a large part of the unincorporated areas of Hays County. In October 2000 we began providing E.M.S. service to the City of Buda and the unincorporated areas of Hays County in that area. We currently provide service with seven Mobile Intensive Care Units stationed throughout our service area (see stations for more information).

We staff with two Paramedics on each MICU to provide the best Pre hospital care for our customers. SM/HC E.M.S. has state of the art equipment, new ambulances, and progressive/aggressive standards of care in which we use to provide this top quality service. Our Medical Director has over 15 years of E.M.S. experience and is currently a Paramedic as well as a Physician. We have active Quality Assurance and Continuing Education Programs to insure that we are providing the proper and most up to date care when our customers need it most.
